Valley Road

People laugh, people cry,

People tell the truth and lie.

I don’t know the reason why,

I’m heading home.

Some say “Home is where the heart is.”

My heart was broke in two.

From the moment I departed,

That day that I left you.

There’s been a hole inside my soul,

Since I left that Dirty Town.

I flew too close to heaven,

And my life came crashing down.

Valley Road, I’m heading home,

To the town I was born

West Glamorgan,

Neath Valley.

I’m heading home,

On that valley road.

People work and they try,

People seem to just get by.

I guess they’re the reason why,

I’m heading home.

“Distance makes the heart grow fonder,”

I was more than fond of you.

But the call of the blue yonder,

Took me away from you.

There’s been a knife stuck in my life,

Since I left that Dirty Town.

My head said “Keep on walking,”

My heart said “Turn around.”

Valley Road, I’m heading home,

To the town I was born

West Glamorgan,

Neath Valley.

I’m heading home,

On that valley road.

Where they will greet me with a smile,

And they’ll go that extra mile.

I guess I’ve known it for a while,

So, I’m heading home.

They say “There’s no place quite like home,”

I’m not sure if that’s true.

But wherever I did roam,

My heart remained with you.

There’s been screams inside my dreams,

Since I left that Dirty Town.

I tried so hard to make you proud,

I feel I’ve let you down.

Valley Road, I’m heading home,

To the town I was born

West Glamorgan,

Neath Valley.

I’m heading home,

On that valley road.
