I’ve always enjoyed the company of children.

I used to be one.

I was great at being a kid,

I knew the rules,

It was easy.

Be polite to adults and you would get away with everything.

Then they would let you build dens, swings,

Go-carts, bonfires and swim in the river in November.

As long as they never found out.

Friendship, then, was fully committed and absolute.

It was everything.

Being a kid was brilliant.

I’ve never really got over it.
